As a result of confused eyewitness accounts, it is likely that many innocent people were tried and punished for crimes they did not commit. Engage 10 minutes I start each class period in this unit with a warm-up activity that targets forensic science concepts and other skills observation, problem-solving, etc. It used to be believed that eyewitness statements were very trustworthy pieces of evidence. Finding clues, connecting the dots, and solving mysteries are all part of forensic science and crime scene investigation. Analyzing documents is another aspect of forensic science, or the scientific analysis of evidence that can be used in a court of law. I allow students about 20 minutes to complete their research and answer the questions. However, it is now known that people can often be mistaken about what really happened.

I collect the papers to use for later in the lesson, not explaining the purpose for them at this time.
